Located along highway 3 in what is considered the Heart of the Elk Valley or Southeast corner of British Columbia

Climate

Summers are typically hot and dry and winters range from mild to severe. Sparwood’s location within the East Kootenay lends itself to an Alpine climate where higher precipitation and lower than average temperature are often predictable.

Aircraft can land at the Elk Valley Airport 8km North of Sparwood. Owned by the Regional District of East Kootenay this modern aircraft landing strip, operated by Elk Valley Air Services, has a 4,000 ft paved runway.
