Incorporation

1964, Nakusp has a total land area of 8 square km (2006 Census).

Location

Just North of Castlegar off Highway 6 along the upper Arrow Lakes .

Climate

Winters are mild when compared to other Kootenay communities due largely to its close proximately to a large body of water. All around temperatures are moderate July and August are typically the hottest months. Average January temperatures reach just below zero and are considered to be the coolest month. June is the wettest overall yet average perception is moderate.

Indoor Recreation

Nakusp Sports Complex – Activities include hockey, skating, curling, squash, or just come out and watch.

Outdoor Recreation

Here are just a few summer activities you might want to try swimming, boating, fishing, ATVing, horseback riding, kayaking hiking, camping and tennis.

Winter activities are endless such as ice fishing cross country skiing, downhill skiing, snowmobiling tobogganing
